This lecture, by the director of the photography crowdfunding website emphas.is, will look at how crowdfunding can be effectively applied to photojournalism to finance photographic projects that engage new audiences. It will look at who the backers are who fund photographic projects, how to conceive of a crowdfunding campaign and how to built global communities around a photographic project.

Tina Ahrens

Tina Ahrens has been a workshop teacher for World Press Photo in Bahrain, Pathshala — the South Asian Media Academy in Bangladesh, and PhotoCircle in Nepal. She has been juror and portfolio reviewer at numerous international photography events such as Photo Espana, Madrid; Rencontres d’Arles, Arles; Visa pour l’image, Perpignan; and ICP career day, New York.
